To keep a long story short. My friend Zach had a champagne party last night. There was music and merriment ( I made really good baked apple with bree and carmelized vidalia and a challah with a one braid being whole wheat, one braid being plain, and one braid being cinnamon raisen). The Cops came for a noise violation at about 2am. I dont think there actually was one as it could barely be heard outside the house and the nextdoor neighbors are young kids who were at the party for a little and wouldnt report. The cop was a "party patrol." meaning he drives around listening for music and trying to find parties to bust.
Everyone left Zachs house and was outside. Most people left but some of us law students stayed to observe. One guest left the door of Zachs house open and Zach told the officer that the officer didnt have permission to enter the house. While trying to shut the door to the house the officer tackled him and handcuffed his. He was dragged into the station for "interfering with a police officer's duty." I'm pretty sure, trying to shut the house of your door does not fall into that offense.
Anyways, I spent $1200 bailing him out of jail. He'd better show up for his court date on Monday!!!! But I know he's good for it. It was past 5am when I got back to my house and I realized I forgot my house keys. The house is normally unlocked. I had to knock on Nicks window to have him open the door. He was a little disoriented.
I slept through all today. Need to get homework done, but in a couple hours I am heading off to see a play with Sandy and Joseph. Suday we're hosting a big dinner for friends. Time is short.......
In short, Police in Eugene are mean people.
