Mom, Alex and I went to Las Cruces over the new Year and visited Aaron, Liz, Levromatic, sasha, and the birds. Aaron and Liz had prepared an 8 course meal for us, but I think we only got through 5 or so.

Alex and I got in the afternoon of the 31st after moving her out of her San Francisco apartment earlier that morning and were barely able to stay up to midnight. Around 10pm someone would try to make the others turn in early and one person would guilt the rest of us to stay up. 12 midnight struck, we half hardheartedly grumbled something, and then we all went directly to bed. Party animals? yes....yes we are.

The next day we all packed in the car and headed to White Sands.

Mom had given me a gift card to Trader Joe's and Alex and I were happy we could afford to buy food again. ahhh, all the joys of being students.

Sasha is a bad walking dog and pulls heavily and consistently, so I hooked up our picnic lunch to a sled and let the sled dog haul it all for us. We sledded a bit, but heavy rains in the prior week had made the sand hard and sticky so it wasn't as exciting as it could have been. Nonetheless, Levin had a blast. But Levin always has a blast, I'm actually envious...I wish I could be entertained by things like running in sand for hours on end. Think of how much simpler life could be. example:
ME: "say hon? what you want to do tonight?"
ALEX:"how about we run around the house giggling until bedtime?"
ME: "Isn't that what we did last night?"
Alex: "yup"
"My...sounds delightful!"

The Next morning we partook in a champagne brunch in Mesilla. They had prime rib for breakfast. I'm surprised they didn't search my pockets to make sure I wasn't tucking away it all, because I ate enough for 3-4 people. Little Levin paced around unfazed and I realized the major pit-fall to parenting. One person can never eat. Anyhow, Mom headed off to the airport after wards and the rest of us headed to la Cueva, a short hike 30 minutes away with cool caves and bouldering. Aaron found 6 bottles of water and some torn jeans (which he was not allowed to keep) and we scampered around the rock until sunset.

The next day, we hung out and went for a walk before heading back to the airport. Another fine year started out right!!!!
