Did south sister last month, but never posted any pictures. I was thinking 12 mile loop, this is nothing...but it was brutal. Straight up the whole way on gravel, snow, and dirt. The hardest hike I've done in a long while.
I did the South sister when I was banding in Fremont nat Forest back in 2003. Loved the hike but it almost killed my banding partner. Nice to see pictures of it. I remember jumping into a glacial melt lake near the top, and using my ice axe to claw my way back out. Awesome!
