Colorado 2016

My work friend, Missy, moved to Denver with her partner Amy in December and work has not been the same without her. Along with my old College roommate living in a nearby town, we decided it was past due to visit the all-are-welcome-marijuana-fueled state.

We spent an entire week traveling up and down highway 25 looking for hikes, hitting as many as we could (basically everyday. The first major park was Garden of the Gods, which was not that impressive given my family history hiking redrock, but it was beautiful none-the-less.

A mere hour north, we hiked Bear peak- a drastically different high mountain forest. The top of the mountain was scorched by a recent forest fire and the very top of the peak was swarming with blackfly-esque insects- so we quickly abandoned the panoramic peak

When we came back into town we hit up a local brewery for a $2 beer happy hour, but with a $10 credit card minimum we ended up double fisting pints on the establishment's bench.

It also happened to be Amy's birthday during our visit, so we all went on a hike in the flatiron mountains- a hike culminating in an arch with a view,

Of course we ended the hike, as with any other....with a cold pint or two.
