oh my clever sis' writing comment as Haiku wine was liquid joy
...but the cork was almost powder so it wasnt super spectacular as I think it was starting to oxidize. As first it seemed a little off balance, but after breathing for an hour, it was very nice. Very mellow nad all around pleasing wine. Not as earthy as the old wines you shared with me (leather and sweat), but there was some light tobacco taste to it which was nice.
Sarah's (moms friend) husband was a wine seller. He died some 15 years ago and Sarah left his office as is, which contained 50 or so bottles of wine. So while we were there we were ogling the age of the wines I noticed they have several names I've heard of (which are very few). They had a rothschild, montelena, and many others. I was wowing her wine collection and she said we should open some because she thought they were all vinegar. We had the montelena and she gave me a 1985 port (she doesnt like port) which I was going to look up online at some point and see when it is best drunk. I'm sure you'd be like Kerstin in a vintage toy store going through their wine collection. I think Sarah was looking for a reason to use up that wine as it probably reminds her of her late husband....
Hey Ben! How did you get all those cavities???? My, my, what a fun thing to do before going away to law school. I loved your wine Haiku.....you should really think about writing your blog that way all the time....very creative outlet. The wine commentary is lost on me, but the history behind it is kinda sad. Maybe I should get heavily into wine now that Sarah is gone? I hear that you're still the best uncle, so that's good. Anyway, have a fun time before you leave for school. I'm waiting to hear from Sarah on what her first day was like. Until later, AK Parents at a loss As their children float away To live happily
